BIO  Sergei, originally from Moscow, Russia, has been dancing and acting from an early age and has studied ballet, tap, piano and theatre. Since the early 1990's he has lived on and off in Buenos Aires, where he began his Tango studies with Grand Maestros such as the late Carlos Gavito, Juan Carlos Copes, Tete, Puppi Castello and Raul Bravo, as well as Antonio Todaro's technique. In Los Angeles he partnered with Guillermina Quiroga performing and teaching master classes. He later traveled with Guillermina to Buenos Aires where he performed and taught Argentine Tango and performed in numerous shows.
 
Sergei Tumas was the producer and the Artistic Director of the Tango Angelino show, at the historic Alex Theatre, which received rave reviews in Los Angeles. In addition, he has danced Astor Piazzolla's rare US production of "Maria De Buenos Aires" Operita in Los Angeles, where he was the principle dancer and choreographer with the London-based director John Lloyd Davies and Nicola Bowie of the English National Opera.

  BIO  Brazilian-born LUIZA PAES studied music since she was six and dancing tango since 1997. She was, for ten years, the partner of Norberto “Pulpo” Esbrez since 1998, traveling the world teaching and performing. Luiza teaches all levels of technique emphasizing the leader and follower's roles, improvisation and the ability of adapting, which is what a tango dancer must develop in order to follow different styles.

NICK JONES has been teaching at Festivals throughout the US, Australia and Buenos Aires for the past five years, including Pulpo’s Tango Week. He plays the bandoneon and leads a tango quintet in Denver. His dancing (as is Luiza’s) is effortless, elegant, sophisticated and musical. Being centered on on axis is central to his teaching. Nick is enthusiastic and has the ability to convey complex ideas and to pinpoint the student’s areas needing improvement.

  BIO  World-renowned Master Teachers of Argentine Tango, Guillermia Quiroga and Roberto Reis have not visited Los Angeles as a couple since the 1990’s, when they performed with Forever Tango, The Hollywood Bowl and at the Universal Amphitheatre. They were also principal dancers with the Orchestra of Mariano Mores.

Famous worldwide for her technique and imagination, Guillermina is a revolutionary teacher. She won the first Tango contest of the city of Buenos Aires just a year after she started dancing 17 years ago! She has since performed in Tango x 2, been principal dancer for Mariano Mores’ orchestra, dancer with the US and Europe tours of Broadway’s Forever Tango, exclusive principle dancers with Julio Iglesias’ Tango world tour, and performed in Tango Magic and Tango Argentino in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

Over his extensive career, Roberto has participated in some of the most prestigious tango shows in more than 45 countries. He began his professional dancing career in 1981 and started tango in 1988 with Juan Carlos Copes.

  BIO  LUIZA PAES studied music since she was six, for many years working in musical education and vocal technique. As a new form of musical expression, Luiza studied Argentine Tango with Norberto "Pulpo" Esbrez in Sao Paulo. Starting as a class assistant in his Sao Paulo studio, she later became his partner.

As “Pulpo & Luiza” they traveled to the United States, Europe and Asia to perform and teach various tango workshops. In March of 2000, Luiza taught with Norberto at the II CITA (International Congress of Argentine Tango) in Buenos Aires, and her solo class “Musical Interpretation” was met with great success. Since 2005 Luiza has organized “Pulpo’s Tango Week,” a festival in Buenos Aires -- a friendly gathering of Tango dancers from all over the world.

Luiza teaches all levels of technique, emphasizing the leader and follower's roles, improvisation and the ability to adapt, which is what a tango dancer must develop in order to follow different styles.
